The space between the discard of the old and the assumption of the new is to horrendous to ever advocate for. We have a window of opportunity. If enough people would wake up we might be able to turn this around before it hits the ground.
Having been inside the belly of the beast for many years I do not hold out much hope for working with the twin parties of power. But I still have hope.

I’ve read a LOT of writing about turning this country around, but the big question is how. By voting? I’ve sent an email to the head of the Republican party in our county trying to get a list of the Republicans running in our primary with bios. He didn’t have to send me a catalog through the mail, just a link would do. I can’t find anything on the net and guess what? No response from the head of the party. I’ve called senators offices, sent emails to congressmen, always voted in elections, talked to my compatriots and tried to be educated about current conditions. I can’t tell any of it has an effect. It’s time that is the enemy. I’m not going to quite trying, but I can’t see it working.

So by ‘doing right’ its okay to go deeper and deeper in debt?

America is headed to the SAME European mold you detest and you blame the Republicans? Europe IS going broke because of the socialist system they have. And it takes more and more taxes to pay for that system. But it is clear that some citizens here in the US want to pay more taxes into an inefficient system that fritters it away.
The Government’s job is to PROTECT its citizens not PROVIDE for them. I would prefer to give my money to either the church or to charity-my dollar goes further and there is more accountability.

Great article and so true. It seemed as if people had swallowed the “Kool-aide” and couldn’t see the obvious before them back in 2008. I still know people in the office I work in that will vote for him in 2012, and they take offense at any attempt to debate the facts of his presidency. However I don’t blame Mr. Obama as much as I do US, the American parents that abandoned our children to entertainment and also abandoned our faith in God who made this nation great in the first place. We deserve Obama to be quite honest, and my hope is that some hard times in this nation will turn us back to God and in turn he can once again bless this country. Conservatism is better than Socialism any day of the week and twice on Sunday as my Granny used to say :-) But either without God will eventually collapse in the dust of time.
P.S. I don’t know if you remember me from the History classes you taught; but they were my favorite and made writing research papers a pleasure instead of work.
