Growing Old July 9, 2025

Days rush by
and then they’re gone.
Dust in the wind,
flowers in bloom,
a joy filled sunny day.
Every other day,
seems like a Friday,
with a Monday in-between.
Days rush by
and then they’re gone.
A wise man once said,
“Growing old is not for the faint of heart.”
One moment,
you’re the youngest one in the crowd.
Suddenly,
you’re the oldest person in the room.
Defiantly we say,
“I can’t respect someone just because they’re old!”
Then we wonder why,
“These kids,”
don’t show us any respect.

In “Get the Best of Evil by Doing Good” S5 / E11 of I Took a Right Turn: We open with the usual banter and greetings. Next, they play some good old church songs: River of Life, Everywhere He Went, and Put Your Hand In the Hand of the Man From Galilee. Then they share another of their homegrown songs: Hello Jesus. Turning to the Bible we dive into Romans 12:9-21 which speaks to us about holy living and the power that has over everything around us. Robert moves on to read the poem “
Growing Old,” from his second book of Poetry, Floating Through Time. Each episode this season includes a poem from this book.
The text of these readings is posted the day after the release of each episode at www.itookarighturn.com All of Robert’s forty books are available in paperback and kindle through Amazon. We also invite everyone to visit our online art store, The Pair a Docs Shop where we offer our original paintings, prints and merchandise.

Questions About Everything and Nothing July 2, 2025

People who say,
everything came from nothing,
always have something in their nothing:
energy,
matter,
time,
something.
But if they really believed
everything came from nothing,
their nothing would be a perfect void,
which would necessitate,
either
a slow evolution
or
a spontaneous explosion
of something from nothing.
First two questions:
What evolved”
and
What exploded?
Next Two Questions:
What caused the evolution?
What sparked the explosion?
