Who Were They? October 29, 2025

Our fleeting moment

upon this stage

is rushing by.

We blink,

and the long lazy days

of youth fade in our rear-view mirror.

We blink,

and prime time

has left the building.

We blink,

the kids are grown,

and middle age is just a stage.

We blink,

and old age creeps up on us.

One day

we look in a mirror,

and we see,

our grandparents

looking back at us.

Like flowers in the field

we sprout,

bloom,

and fade away.

Like dust in a shaft of sunlight

we swirl and dance,

till the breezes of time blow us away.

Like smoke from a chimney,

we stand out,

against the sky

Until we merge with the clouds

and silently drift away.

For most of us

one or two generations

at the most three or four

and no one will

remember we were here.

In “First in Line” S5 / E27 of I Took a Right Turn: After we wander on about what’s going on in the Promised Land, we play some l songs that mean much to many: There is Power in the Blood another old song that just keeps rolling on.Then we share a couple that have blessed many tents, amphitheaters, and stadiums along the sawdust trail of revival: Jesus Got a Holda My Life, and He Set Me Free.  Moving on we play one of our home-grown songs: Come On People.  Next comes the most important part of all, we open God’s Word, the Bible.  This week we turn to at Romans 8:29-30 and learn that God has started a whole new line of humanity.  He has redeemed the lost line of Adam and founded a new line beginning with Jesus.  Robert then reads another poem from his second book of poetry, Floating Through Time, “Who Were They.”  Each episode this season includes a poem from this book.

The text of these readings is posted the day after the release of each episode at www.itookarighturn.com All of Robert’s more than forty books are available in paperback, Kindle, and Audible through Amazon. We also invite everyone to visit our online art store, The Pair a Docs Shop where we offer our original paintings, prints and merchandise.

A Puzzle October 22, 2025

A mouse in a maze

never sees the whole.

It only sees the corridor,

it happens to be in

at the time.

And though

it searches and searches,

it always seems,

like someone

has moved the cheese.

Only through revelation

can we see,

enough of the puzzle

to learn which piece

needs to go next to which piece

to make the picture whole.

In “Jesus to the Rescue” S5 / E26 of I Took a Right Turn: The first thing we address is the shifting sands of time around us and the rock-solid foundation of faith.  Then we share some comments about what’s going on in the Promised Land.  Then we play some special songs: Got Any Rivers, an oldy but a goody. Then a few that are newer but just as spirit lifting: Because He Lives, and Through it All.  Next, we share another of our home-grown songs: The Voice.  And no episode would be complete without the Bible.  This week we turn to at II Corinthians 1:3-5 and see that God knows what He’s doing.  Robert then reads another poem from his second book of poetry, Floating Through Time, “A Puzzle.”  Each episode this season includes a poem from this book.
