Jesus Loves the Little Children October 8, 2025

One thing

I never expected,

as I matured

into a seasoned citizen

is how cute,

kids would become to me.

When I was younger,

I appreciated the children,

God allowed me to help raise.

I appreciated,

my nieces and nephews.

But other children

were just there.

I didn’t pay,

much attention to them.

I was almost the embodiment,

of that famous old quote

From W. C. Fields,

“Get away boy, you bother me.”

Now

as a member

of the receding generation

I find children a blessing,

just to watch,

their innocence

is a source,

of constant wonder

and astonishment to me.

Something

precious to behold,

and

sacred to protect.

In “As a Child” S5 / E24 of I Took a Right Turn: begins with comments about the world we live in and of course the weather.  Then some songs from something most of us heard as a child to the ultimate truths of reality: Open the Eyes of My Heart, My Life is in You Lord, and Jesus Loves the Little Children. Then we share one of our home-grown songs: Every Time I Turn Around.  In the Bible we look at Luke 18:15-17 learning that God wants us to keep it simple.  Robert then reads another poem from his second book of poetry, Floating Through Time, “Jesus Loves the Little Children.”  Each episode this season includes a poem from this book.

The text of these readings is posted the day after the release of each episode at www.itookarighturn.com All of Robert’s more than forty books are available in paperback and kindle through Amazon. We also invite everyone to visit our online art store, The Pair a Docs Shop where we offer our original paintings, prints and merchandise.

After Everything Else October 1, 2025

Usually by the time

we’re old enough to know anything,

we’ve figured out,

that just because

we’re the center of

our observable reality,

that reality

doesn’t revolve around us.

After that

it doesn’t take long,

to realize

that the cold machinery

of the space-time continuum

takes as little heed,

to us

as we do to the microbes

in the ground

we walk over every day.

When we come

to the end of ourselves,

we have the chance,

to find

the beginning

of everything else.

And there:

Is God.
