Is The Bible God’s Word? November 12, 2025

To those who say,
“The Bible has been translated,
so many times
by so many people
how can we know it’s
the true unadulterated Word of God.”
Personally, I believe,
if the infinitely personal God of all creation
went to all the trouble,
to send prophets and apostles
over thousands of years of time
to write down His Word
to humanity
and
if after thousands of years
of unbelievers trying unsuccessfully
to burn and destroy that Word,
it has not only survived,
it has thrived.
I can believe His Word
has ended up,
in my hands
in a pure enough form
in a language I can understand
for me to hear
what He’s saying.

In “Claim Your Inheritance” S5 / E29 of I Took a Right Turn: To begin we share about what God is doing in our lives right now. This is followed by songs that have been and continue to be the most requested: Jesus On The Mainline a song that has fired people up for years. Next comes a song that touches on a subject important to all believers, remembering What Christ has done for us: Jesus I’ll Never Forget, and then we shar what was the favorite song of a man of God we were blessed to know and serve with, Pastor Raymond Flemmons: I’ve Got a Feeling. And finishing up the musical interlude we play another of our home-grown songs: Do What He Said. Turning to God’s Word, we dive into Galatians 4:4-7 where we learn that we have been adopted into the family of God as co-heirs to the kingdom. Robert then reads another poem from his second book of poetry, Floating Through Time, “Is the Bible God’s Word?” Each episode this season includes a poem from this book.
The text of these readings is posted the day after the release of each episode at www.itookarighturn.com All of Robert’s more than forty books are available in paperback, Kindle, and Audible through Amazon. We also invite everyone to visit our online art store, The Pair a Docs Shop where we offer our original paintings, prints and merchandise.

It’s a good thing God’s mercy is new every morning because I used up yesterday’s supply.

We spend hours each day watching TV, reading the news, and listening to music. We spend maybe a few minutes each day in prayer, in the Bible, and seeking God. And we wonder why our lives are confused, pointless, and lonely?

When we close our eyes or shrug our shoulders to injustice, we might as well say we agree with it.

Flowers in a Field November 5, 2025

Remember,
summer seemed forever,
when we were ten years old?
That’s how youth felt,
while we swaggered
our way through it,
knowing it would last forever,
giving no thought
to the forever fleeting experience
of being:
young,
fit,
healthy,
and strong
Middle age creeps up on us
silently
as we’re too preoccupied
with work to notice.
By the time we acknowledge middle age
we tip over into being old.
Old age endures until it doesn’t.
Each new decade
brings fresh revelations,
of our mortality
until that frail mortality
is irrevocably proven,
and we step off the stage,
to the cheers,
the moans,
or the indifference
of the world
swirling around
our brief excursion
as a flower in the field.

In “He’s Alive!” S5 / E28 of I Took a Right Turn: First of all we talk about what is on our minds today. Then we share the weather report. Next, we play some songs that have been and continue to be perennial favorites as we play at missions and churches: Victory in Jesus a good old song that has blessed people for years. After this we play a song made famous at many revivals: He Touched Me, and one of the most moving gospel songs of all time; There’s Room at the Cross for You. Then we share another of our home-grown songs: Jesus Would Have Gone to the Cross. Moving on to God’s Word, we turn to I Corinthians 15:12-15 where look at the pivotal role of Christ’s resurrection in redeeming us from the sin nature that condemns us to death. Robert then reads another poem from his second book of poetry, Floating Through Time, “Flowers in a Field.” Each episode this season includes a poem from this book.
