We determine
the value of something
by the price
someone is willing to pay for it.
What price was paid
for our salvation?
The most precious blood of Christ
poured out
to atone for our sins,
the holy for the wicked.
Once we begin
to see those around us
as people God
was willing to pay
the ultimate price for,
we will begin
to value each life
as God does.
How Can I Help July 22, 2025

In “How Can I Help” S5 / E13 of I Took a Right Turn:We start off talking about how everyone is important to God. Then we move on to a few of our old favorites: He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands, Jesus Loves Me, and Jesus I’ll Never Forget. Then we share another of our homegrown songs: Jesus Would Have Gone to the Cross. Turning to the Bible we open to Romans 15:1-2 and we learn that we are called to serve others. Robert moves on to read the poem “What is the Value?” from his second book of poetry, Floating Through Time. Each episode this season includes a poem from this book.

What is here and now,
is merely,
what is here and now.
Like distorted images
we see in a cracked carnival mirror,
or the mirage
of an oasis in the desert
the shifting fog of history
surrounding us
is but a pale representation,
of God’s reality.
Our lives
are no more permanent,
than the shadow of a cloud
drifting over a landscape
it did not create,
on its way
to an appointment never seen
that’s always over the horizon.

In “Treat Them Gently” S5 / E12 of I Took a Right Turn : Begins with some remarks concerning how we learn from others and how we share more in common than we have in differences. Next, they play some of our old favorites: I’ve Been Redeemed, Praise the Name of Jesus, and We Exalt Thee. Then we share another of our homegrown songs: The Book, The Blood, and the Blessed Hope. Turning to the Bible we stay in Romans for another week opening up to 14:1 which tells us how we are to treat other believers.
