If we don’t know
Jesus is the Son of God
who came into the world,
that His death
was the perfect sacrifice,
paying the penalty for all sin.
That His resurrection defeated death and the Devil.
That making Him Lord of our life,
and
believing God raised Him from the dead,
brings salvation.
God overlooks our ignorance.
But since
you’ve just read
what has gone before,
that time of ignorance
has passed.

In “The Time Has Passed” S5 / E 7 of I Took a Right Turn: We open with our usual jibber-jabber including of course the weather report and some prayer requests. Next, they sing some good old-time favorites: I Saw the Light, This Little Light of Mine, and This Train. Then comes another of our homegrown songs: Jesus the Lord. Opening our Bible s to II Thessalonians 2:1-3 we speak about the End Times, which is a subject of interest to many and a focus for whole ministries. Robert then reads the poem “The Time Has Passed” from his Second book of Poetry, Floating Through Time. Each episode this season includes a poem from this book.

The key to understanding the universe,
is to realize:
it was created by a personal God
and not the unconscious action
of an impersonal force.
Because God created the universe
outside Himself
it’s not just an extension of His essence.
There is a real reality,
true history,
cause and effect,
and individuals
who can effectively respond to him.
Trying to find a universal meaning
in our own heads
is like walking in circles
in a house of mirrors
and thinking.
“I’m really going somewhere.”

And of course, one of our homegrown songs: There’s a Reason. Opening to II Peter 3:8-12 we listen as God speaks through the Apostle and lays out exactly what we are to do as servants of Christ.
