A Puzzle October 22, 2025

A mouse in a maze

never sees the whole.

It only sees the corridor,

it happens to be in

at the time.

And though

it searches and searches,

it always seems,

like someone

has moved the cheese.

Only through revelation

can we see,

enough of the puzzle

to learn which piece

needs to go next to which piece

to make the picture whole.

In “Jesus to the Rescue” S5 / E26 of I Took a Right Turn: The first thing we address is the shifting sands of time around us and the rock-solid foundation of faith.  Then we share some comments about what’s going on in the Promised Land.  Then we play some special songs: Got Any Rivers, an oldy but a goody. Then a few that are newer but just as spirit lifting: Because He Lives, and Through it All.  Next, we share another of our home-grown songs: The Voice.  And no episode would be complete without the Bible.  This week we turn to at II Corinthians 1:3-5 and see that God knows what He’s doing.  Robert then reads another poem from his second book of poetry, Floating Through Time, “A Puzzle.”  Each episode this season includes a poem from this book.

The text of these readings is posted the day after the release of each episode at www.itookarighturn.com All of Robert’s more than forty books are available in paperback and kindle through Amazon. We also invite everyone to visit our online art store, The Pair a Docs Shop where we offer our original paintings, prints and merchandise.

What’s it All About? October 15, 2025

The cold impersonal

avalanche of happenstance

leads any thinking person,

to the question,

“What’s it all about?”

The inscrutability

of the carnival mirror maze

we perceive as reality,

leads many to conclude,

there is no meaning,

there is no point,

there is no reason.

All there is,

is what it is,

and that’s all there is.

A sort of Popeye philosophy

that leaves us constantly,

wandering about

looking for the magic can of spinach,

that’ll make us strong enough,

to break through the distorted carnival mirrors

that make up,

our perception of this world.

To scan an open horizon

with a clear vista.

On our own

it always seems to be,

just around the next corner,

just over the next hill.

Or maybe,

tomorrow.

In “Faith is the Foundation” S5 / E25 of I Took a Right Turn: We start off this week with general comments about our life of faith in the Promised Land and some observations about the world around us.  Moving on we first play a song that is an old spiritual: Glory Glory.  Then a few that are always inspirational: I Saw the Light, and I’m Blessed. And another of our home-grown songs: Don’t Give Up.  Opening the Bible to what many call “The faith Chapter” we look at Hebrews 11:1-3where we see that faith in God is the foundation of everything.  Robert then reads another poem from his second book of poetry, Floating Through Time, “What’s it All About.”  Each episode this season includes a poem from this book.

We should spend more time revealing the truth than worrying about what’s false.
